In a competition known for its high stakes and intense pressure, Oliver’s feedback was particularly impactful for one contestant, resulting in a poignant display of emotion that quickly made headlines.

The incident unfolded during a challenge where contestants created a handheld meal for the judges. Among them was 27-year-old contestant Alex, who greatly admired Jamie Oliver. Eager to impress her culinary idol, Alex set out to create a hibachi prawn dish that would showcase her skills.

Upon presenting her creation to the panel, Alex received praise from judges Poh Ling Yeow and Jean-Christophe Novelli. However, his critique took a critical turn when Oliver sampled the dish. Describing the prawn as “completely raw” and the tail as “completely overcooked,” Oliver’s feedback left Alex visibly shaken and disheartened.

The experience was particularly devastating for Alex, as the disappointment of falling short in front of her childhood inspiration weighed heavily on her. Reflecting on the moment, she expressed profound disappointment: “I’m absolutely gutted right now. That he couldn’t even eat it has just ruined me.”

This incident happened in the 3rd episode of season 16, which has new panel members after the tragic death of Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo.
