Subway has finally restocked its highly popular Footlong Cookie at restaurants nationwide. Initially launched in January along with a new Cinnabon Footlong Churro, the 12-inch long Footlong Cookie quickly became fans’ favorite.
For those who haven’t yet gotten the chance to try it, it is worth noting that Footlong Cookie is served warm. Loaded with gooey chocolate chips it is available for $5.
The chain has sold more than five million Footlong Cookies since adding them to the menu, according to an estimation. Due to the intense demand, the chain began facing shortages just a couple of weeks after the launch. As a result, Subway stopped selling the cookies through its app and third-party ordering channels.
The nationwide shortage has been a source of frustration for Subway customers and employees. In March, an employee remarked, “We managed to receive a box last week after waiting a month.”
However, the company has continuously been working to boost supplies in order to meet incredible demand. The chain has officially announced the return of beloved footlong cookies to restaurants nationwide, ending the anticipation.
In a press release discussing the cookie’s return, Subway’s Senior Vice President of Culinary and Innovation Paul Fabre said “The Footlong Cookie has delighted millions of Americans since their first bites in January…” said Paul Fabre, Subway senior vice president of culinary and innovation. “Subway worked diligently to rush additional Footlong Cookie supply to satisfy cookie cravings at a great value and serve up a footlong dose of happiness this summer.”
The return of Subway’s Footlong Cookie excited Americans and boosted their morale. A recent survey reveals that the restocking of these cookies is lifting Americans’ spirits second only to playing with puppies. 70 percent of respondents said that they enjoy eating Footlong cookies and it brighten their day. Meanwhile, 89 percent said that they enjoy cuddling with puppies.
